This method provides fast detection of corrosion, pitting, and erosion of pipes.
Long-range ultrasonic testing (LRUT), is an ultrasonic testing method that is fast and cost-effective for inspection of long lengths pipes. ANDT specializes in using LRUT at process pipelines, oil and gas refineries, and in processing sectors.
Meters of pipe can be screened in a single day from a single location and this can inspect the entirety of the pipe wall. LRUT can be performed without stopping the process and in a pipe that is operational, insulated, and in inaccessible areas such as at high elevations and underground pipelines. The method can hence save time and money that would be spent on preparation and not to mention the stopping of process.
Circumferentially transducers are mounted around the pipe and the transducers generate and receive low-frequency ultrasonic waves along the length of the pipes. The returning echoes indicate defects such as corrosion, pitting, erosion, and other discontinuities.
Our highly qualified inspectors using LRUT and are ASNT level 2 and 3 qualified; they can provide you with an on-point assessment of the condition of your pipes.
When selecting ANDT for your long-range ultrasonic testing (LRUT), you have the assurance that your maintenance schedules will be met and you will benefit from the expertise that our inspectors provide. Our reports will provide you with the necessary data to take preventive measures and will help in the management of assets.
ANDT can provide the qualitative NDE that might be useful to investigate the full extent of the defects and oddities found by LRUT.
