Born into a humble family in Odisha, Kaushik is the son of a retired professor of history and a homemaker mother. He completed his B.Tech in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in 2014 from GIET, Gunupur (BPUT), with a CGPA of 7.43.

Right after graduation, he joined Bhushan Power & Steel Ltd., Jharsuguda as an Assistant Engineer in the Sinter (Operations) Department and gained 2 years of industry experience.
